Our History
Desira is a family run car dealership, founded by John Desira in 1972. John Desira started in the motor trade in London, working as an Apprentice Technician. Once qualified, he started his own business and was recommended a small garage in Brooklyn, Norfolk. Desira has dramatically grown over the years from this first garage and is now the largest privately owned Fiat Dealer group in the country. Employing 350 staff, with 9 dealerships across Norfolk, Suffolk and North London, Desira is also Europe’s largest Fiat and Alfa Romeo Parts distributor.
With 35 years of experience under our belts, Desira Group Plc have never been a company to sit still. Starting out with the Fiat franchise, we gradually introduced Alfa Romeo, Citroen and Nissan. The desire for expansion took fold once again when we made a strategic move introducing Mitsubishi to our array of franchises. A revamped Ipswich showroom has welcomed the new Mitsubishi range.
Desira are constantly looking for ways to develop and in 2006, the Depot was introduced at Diss. The Depot is our Low Cost Car Destination with all makes all models used cars at the cheapest prices. Abacus Car and Van Rental has also been introduced at our Wroxham Road site, to work alongside our Van & 4x4 business centre, enabling a new market place to be conquered.
The Desira Group today employs approximately 350 staff, has 9 dealerships, five franchises, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Mitsubishi and Nissan, a multi-million pound parts operation.
