Interior: The New Rexton is a large, D/E-segment authentic 4x4. It is powered by a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine delivering maximum power of 181PS and maximum torque of 420Nm, with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission.

It measures 4,850mm in length, 1,960mm wide, 1,825mm high, and has a 2,865mm wheelbase.

The New Rexton comes with Apple Carplay and Google Android Auto. This means you can easily connect to the multimedia system to make calls, check messages, listen to music and navigate via the car's display screen.

The New Rexton is designed to be somewhere you'd be happy to spend a lot of time in. The cabin is spacious and luxurious with plenty of shoulder and headroom. Legroom in the second row is especially generous and second-row seats may be double-folded to maximise the load space. In fact, the New Rexton's size give one of the largest load spaces in its sector. It can easily accommodate rear-seat passengers and four golf bags in the boot.

Engine: The New Rexton offers plenty of brawn and brain.

The New 2.2 litre Euro 6 engine delivers maximum power of 181PS at 4000rpm and maximum torque of 420Nm* at 1600-2600rpm and is designed to provide low-end torque for effortless cruising whatever the conditions, whatever the load.

Find yourself rolling backwards on a hill start? Well that will be a thing of the past with the New Rexton. The hill start assist feature acts as an automatic handbrake and is a great ally to have on your side when driving in tricky conditions or when towing.

The New Rexton also helps you stay in control when you find yourself driving downhill. Hill descent control is a low-speed control that activates when the car is handling a steep downhill drive and automatically controls the rate of descent.

The New Rexton will make light work for the hauling of a large caravan, horsebox, boat or work trailer. It has a strong ladder chassis that provides a substantial towing platform and a mighty towing capability of 3.5 tonnes*.

Interior: The dashboard has cross-stitched material panels and the Nappa leather add a touch of luxury. The equipment on offer will include dual-zone climate control, a powered rear tailgate that opens automatically when the key holder has been standing behind it for three seconds, and a new level of safety kit for SsangYong, including nine airbags and rear cross-traffic alert.

In the new Rexton ELX, the driver’s seat is 8-way power-adjustable and the front passenger seat is 6-way power-adjustable. The front and rear seats are heated.

Move to the Ultimate Model and the front seats are also ventilated. And the driver’s seat has a memory feature to instantly recall your ideal seat and door-mirror positions.

And in addition cold days no longer mean cold hands. The new Rexton* warms things up nicely with a heated steering wheel.

Exterior: The New Rexton is designed to feel fresh and modern. This is instantly expressed by its exterior detailing.

The distinctive front-end is led by a grille that takes its inspiration from the spread wings of a bird in flight. The bold headlight units group together LED daytime running lights, high-intensity headlamps for better night vision, LED fog lights, positioning lamps and directional indicators. The rear of the car has LED rear combination side lights, spoiler with high-mounted LED stop light and LED number plate lights.

Safety: The Rexton is one of the strongest and safest cars in its class thanks to its robust body-on-frame build.

Starting with the high-strength steel construction of its body, the car is stiffer than many monocoque-built competitors in this category. Mounted on an extremely strong Quad-Frame, this structure is built using 1.5Gpa-grade ultra-strength steel - a world first, and featuring 81.7% high strength steel to greatly improve strength while also reducing weight.

The car features up to nine airbags including a knee-airbag for the driver and side-airbags in the rear (ELX & Ultimate). It also affords good pedestrian protection due to the careful ‘soft’ front end design and bonnet height.

Electronic safety aids now accepted as important standard equipment on a robust 4x4 such as Rexton include brake assist, electronic brake force distribution and ABS, traction control, active rollover protection and an emergency stop signal. To this is added new driver assistance safety features first seen on the 2017 Tivoli and Tivoli XLV such as forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, high beam assistance and traffic sign recognition. The top of the range Rexton Ultimate also gets cameras front and rear as well as on the door mirrors, and this suite of electronic safety aids includes 360° around-car monitoring, blind spot detection as well as rear cross traffic alert to provide a clear view of the area surrounding the car to increase safety and driver convenience during low-speed driving and parking.
