New Nissan Leaf Announced for 2016

Electric leaf gets an even greener with new 30kWh battery with longer range, as well as improved entertainment system.

Nissan have announced a number of improvements to their market leading EV; most notably a 25 per cent range boost, a touchscreen infotainment system as well as some styling tweaks.

The battery enhancements have resulted in a new milage range that goes from roughly 110 miles up to a maximum 155 miles. Showing confidence in the car's quality, Nissan will cover all new Leaf cars with an incredible 8-year 100,000-mile guarantee.

Chairman of Nissan Europe, Paul Wilcox, claims the range update "opens the world of EV to thousands of drivers across Europe who before just weren’t completely confident that an EV would work for them".

As well as the significant battery improvements, Nissan will give the new leaf its latest NissanConnect touchscreen infotainment system, featuring an updated smartphone link-up which can remotely set the cars temperature, and can also give you remaining range information. The smartphone app will also tell you where your closest charging point is - peace of mind for those who may doubt the practicality of a fully electric vehicle.

As for the price, the updated Leaf with the 30kWh pack will start at £24,490 for Acenta spec.
