Ofcom approves a further 5 years for Park Radio - across Diss, Harleston and Eye!

After a nervous and nail-biting wait since early May - the 50 strong team at Park Radio, the local radio service for South Norfolk and Mid Suffolk, have had their application assessed and now approved by Ofcom, the media regulator, for a further 5-year term to 2027.

It has been a very challenging 15 months for the radio station, which survive by raising income from on-air advertising and is staffed solely by volunteers, it had to re-think the way it operated to help it provide valuable information and morale boost for the communities across the Waveney Valley.

As a not-for-profit organisation, all the local councils supported the station with grants and when possible its customers rallied around and took full advantage of special bounce-back advertising deals.

Station Manager & Director, Chris Moyse commented "I am delighted and so very proud of the whole team who have worked so hard to provide both live and locally produced programming during these unprecedented times. Who would have predicted the station would face a pandemic and all that would involve.

Ofcom was clearly impressed with our application and how we have continued to inform and entertain our listeners. As part of the 5-year plan is to set up satellite studios in both Harleston and Eye''
